2015 Osceola Heritage MusicFest Lineup OSCEOLA, ARKANSAS - The 17th annual Osceola Heritage MusicFest is set for May 15 and 16, 2015, in beautiful downtown Osceola on the Mississippi County Courthouse square.
A fun-filled weekend of food, kids’ activities, a 5k walk/run, backyard grillin’ competition, and more is planned around the eclectic lineup of music, with a mix of everything including feel good party bands, Memphis blues, throwback rockabilly, good ol’ Southern rock, and more. The festival music headliner for this year is Grammy-nominated country artist David Nail, a Kennett, Missouri native and alumni of Arkansas State University in Jonesboro.
The music will kick off Friday night at 6:00 p.m. with Callie Marae. The Jonesboro sweetheart will bring an entertaining performance, blending Blues, Rock and Americana into a new kind of musical experience.
Local favorites Loose Change will take the stage at 7:30, and will perform a great mix of rock and country for everyone’s enjoyment.
The ShotGunBillys are an entertaining group of Arkansas boys and will bring classic Southern country rock to the stage at 9:00.
As a tradition, things will get grooving at 10:30 with Dr. Zarr’s Amazing Funk Monster, bringing songs that make the crowd dance and sing along.
Saturday at 1:00, a group named Sobriety Check will get the day rolling. The band, comprised of Osceola High School alumni Marty Browning and Tim Pinkerton, along with their friend Jake Lung, will bring a great mix of the Southern rock songs everyone knows and loves.
At 2:15, Memphis trio One O’Clock Jump will bring the rockabilly sounds that are much a part of Osceola music heritage to the festival stage with an exciting twist and energizing performance. Their upright bass player is quite the performing madman and is mesmerizing to watch!
Following that, Delta Honey will take the stage at 3:30. Their repertoire includes a lot of your favorites with a bluesy undercurrent that, paired with sultry vocals of lead songstress Sherrie Mitchell, truly makes the performance unique.
Memphis’ own Ghost Town Blues Band will perform at 5:00. The band placed second in the band category the 2015 International Blues Challenge, and based on their sound, that was probably one ranking too low. Their infectious tunes are a mix of traditional Delta blues with a dash of funk and jazz, giving a nod to New Orleans while maintaining their blues roots.
A fellow 2014 IBC winner was Lucious Spiller, who performed at last year’s MusicFest. His talent was unmatched, as was proven through his IBC second place win in the solo category. This year, he’s coming back with his band to give Osceola more of his amazing performance of traditional blues.
Little Rock party band Tragikly White will keep everyone moving with a great set of danceable songs across several genres. They take the stage at 8:30 p.m.
The final performance begins at 10:30, closing with 2015 headliner David Nail. Since his debut in 2009, David Nail has made a career of singing songs that few artists dare touch in contemporary country music: sad songs. He has had hits with singles about cheating (“Let It Rain”), breakups (“Red Light”) and failed dreams (“Turning Home”) and he has owned every one, singing as if from personal experience. David’s ability to make such tales of heartbreak and loss his own is what defines him as an artist—one capable of finding and recording songs that are deeply relatable to him and to listeners. And his cathartic new album continues that trend, albeit with a series of decidedly upbeat songs that reflects David’s own happiness.
